- March 15, 2008 Shades and Shadows for the Practitioner
A course in drawing shades and shadows, focusing on repeatable techniques for the design practitioner. The student will learn to apply a set of basic rules to achieve accurate, believable shade and shadow effects for use in freehand sketches, plan, elevation, and perspective drawings. Basic theory of light, how it falls on surfaces, and general rules for the visualization and construction of shade and shadow in orthographic projection and perspective will be covered, with an emphasis on a quick, practical technique useful in a studio environment.
