Institute of Classical Architecture & Classical America: Southern California Chapter

07/21/2012 - 10:00am - 1:00pm
Architectural Field Drawing at the Getty Villa

Jeff DiCicco, Instructor

This course is designed to develop all levels of ability in freehand sketching. We will be meeting at one of our city’s most endearing and iconic landmarks – the Getty Villa. Students will have the freedom to choose what they wish to render, with an emphasis on architecture. It can be as simple as an architectural detail/element. The class will begin with a brief demonstration on how to choose a vantage point. We will also focus on composition to create a balanced piece, proportion to break down the image into sections, and contrast between lights and darks to create a successful work of art.  This is a class with discoveries to be found at all levels. Enjoy learning in a relaxed format and a truly beautiful setting.
